Architect anyone?

Is it going to be the boat club or not? I first have to see if the place is big enough to seat 65 people. The nice thing about the boat club is the bar - not to expensive and they have nice kithen facilities. The tables are a bit wierd though - only four people per table (and they're round). The positive thing about 4 people per table is it will be very cosy. I even designed (thank goodness for modern technology) a floor, table, seating and general decor plan. It seems I have missed my calling in life! I also have another venue in mind that will accomodate the guests with ease, have a stage for the DJ to do his thing, big enough bathrooms, kithen facilities and fans in the roof to keep the hot and bothered guests cool (haha). I also designed the floor, table, seating and general decor plan for this venue as well, because I know the place well. What is nice about this venue is they have there own tables and white tablecloths - 2 less things for me to worry about (hiring wise that is). I found a little shop in my town - Perfect Bride & Events - that stock the "small stuff". Things like accessories, candle holders, cake knives & lifters, cake stands, candles, flower stands, lighting, napkins, photo albums, pillars, ribbon, ring pillows, stands for table plan, stand for wedding cake, etc and they have a hiring service as well! My mom and I are going to visit the shop today to get quotations and just to enjoy it. I also asked my best friend yesterday if she will be my bridesmaid and she said yes - now I am even more excited, someone else to share my plans with. Azel

Designer of note

In my last blog, I said that I downloaded some wedding invitation templates. I have decided to design my own wedding invitation! I went to one of Hermanus's art shops and bought 3 different sets of recycle paper, gold lint (gold is the colour scheme), etc and made 3 different invitations and finally decided on 1. It is so beautiful - I'm thinking of starting my own little label of wedding invitations! We found a venue for our reception - the local boat club. It will fit the number of people we want to invite, has a cheap cash bar and the setting is just perfect - a view of the harbour and ocean. I can hardly wait for this wedding! Azel

Wedding Invitations

Wow - after the hype of the new ring, I realised I have to start to plan for this wedding. The date is 10 May 2008 - a nice 12 months to plan. And being the perfectionist that I am, I live by lists and schedules. So I printed an Afrikaans count down list from "Bruid 24" (in Afrikaans it is called "Aftellys") and started going down the list to give me an idea of my next 12 months. Everything is already worked out! I must admit, I have been planning for this wedding for more than 5 years now - so most of the things on the list I already had in my mind. But what an exciting twist to actually plan it for real! Today, being part of the 12 month list, I decided on a small, informal but "warm and inviting" little wedding - 60 people max. So yes, I have set up a guest list. I decided that I am going to design my own wedding invitations. Thank goodness for creative juices. Seeing that the internet is just a big-ass place where everything is available, I downloaded and printed templates of wedding invitations and beautiful little verses to go on the invitations. I also struggled with the fact we do not want any gifts - just money. Luckily I found the cutest little verse that makes my request look OK. Anyway, back to work for me. Anybody want to share their experience with me? Azel
